In 2018, you can see the names of more than 150 people on the Melrose History Quilt in 1898. They lived on the same streets and may have walked into many of the same buildings we see today. What a wonderful thought to consider!

Beginning in late November 2018, a Yarnstorm will arrive in Melrose. Created by knitters and crocheters with support from Lucky Cat Yarns and the Melrose Public Library, seven “storm cell” installations will highlight stops on a self-guided history tour. You’ll also find places on the National Register of Historic Places decorated with colorful creations.

Want to be part of the fun?  You can:

• Join our email list to hear about Yarn Storm meet ups and decorating times.
• Create 6″ squares or rectangles of 6″ x 12″ or 6″ x 18″ for the Yarnstorm. These can be knit, crochet, macrame, arm knit… use your favorite technique!
• Knit your own Snowflake Block inspired by in bulky yarn (suggested needle size 10.5). Find the free pattern on Ravelry or here.
• Create 3D shapes for the Yarnstorm. They should be at least as big as your hand with your fingers stretched out.
• Come create at one of the Yarnstorm Meet-ups.
• Volunteer to help set up the Yarnstorm during the week of November 26, 2018.
